The Rotary Club of Budge Budge(RCBB), since its inception in 1965, has a long history of community services. It is known for sinking about 220 deep tube wells in remote villages to ensure safe drinking water supply and low cost sanitary toilets for the poor. The RCBB has over the years supported 54 orphan boys and girls at Jyotirmoyee Girl’s School and Ramkhrisna Ashram, Bata and improved the infra structural facilities of a number of village schools. The Rotary Priti Vocational training institute helps the unemployed youth of the locality to earn living by several entrepreneurship and vocational training programs. RCBB has also been conducting free eye check-up camps in distant rural villages along with free eye operation camps. It was felt that we needed an Eye Hospital of our own to provide better service and to an increasing no of patients. Thus the GRSM(Gulab Raj Shymlal Memorial) hospital was founded in 1995 with the benevolent contribution from a large no. of people, Rotarians and Rotary Clubs in India and abroad. Budge Budge Municipality provided the land and the local philanthropist Shri jagannath Gupta did the initial construction. Sight Savers international our partner organization, gave us the much needed technical and financial support. |
